Laparoscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that allows a surgeon to access and visualize the inside of the abdomen and pelvis using a laparoscope—a thin, flexible tube equipped with a light and camera.

Instead of a large incision, laparoscopy involves small keyhole incisions through which the laparoscope and other specialized surgical instruments are inserted.
